SACRAMENTO –Assemblyman Scott Wilk's, R-Santa Clarita, Assembly Bill 2706 passed the Assembly Education Committee with unanimous support. AB 2706 would create a pilot program to support teachers and students in utilizing technology in their daily lessons.
“It used to be that reading, writing, and arithmetic were the foundations for success. However, in today's day and age, technology is now included in that list,” Wilk said. “This program will ensure that teachers have the ability to instill technological skills in students that are needed to thrive in college and today's job market.”
AB 2706 would fund a $2,000,000 pilot program to train K-12 teachers to effectively use technology in the classroom. There is currently little to no funding targeted at training teachers to be able to properly prepare their students for the new state assessments.
AB 2706 will next be heard in the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
